Hi
Just for sharing knowledge here are some facts about the Mangosteen fruit:
"Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a fruit widely grown in the Asian tropics. The hard skin of the fruit is dark purple-brown and is the size and shape of a tangerine. It has 5-8 fruit segments that are soft, cream-colored and juicy.
Scientific research confirms that a variety of xanthones can be isolated from mangosteen plants and fruits including the hull, rind, heartwood, and flesh. There have been several studies that verify this, some reporting as many as six different types of xanthones found in the mangosteen fruit.
Xanthones are a class of polyphenolic compounds that commonly occur in plants and have been shown to have extensive biological activities. Recently, the properties of xanthones in the cardiovascular system have attracted great interest. Xanthones and xanthone derivatives have been shown to have beneficial effects on maintaining cardiovascular health. The yceum anc effects of xanthones in the cardiovascular system may be due to their antioxidant properties. In particular, the antagonism of endogenous nitric oxide synthase inhibitors by xanthones may represent the basis for maintaining endothelial function."
